I attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated with an associate degree in civil and construction engineering technology. After graduation in 1980, I was hired by THP and began my career drafting using pencil and mylar.
With more than 40 years in the industry—all with THP—I have been exposed to every conceivable building type, use, structure, and project delivery method. The last half of my career I have focused on the design of parking garages as the structural or architectural/prime consultant. Collaborating closely with owners, architects, and engineers, I develop functional and efficient designs that follow the desire of the client, following famed architect Louis Sullivan’s maxim “form follows function.” I take pride in being able to be creative, see the big picture, and develop solutions that others had not considered. I focus on keeping the design clear, simple, and constructible to minimize cost and construction. During construction, I collaborate closely with contractors to ensure that the project stays on time and within budget. Working on a project from initial idea through the finished product gives me tremendous insight into the entire process as well as a particular level of personal satisfaction. From projects as small as a single-bay maintenance garage to a Major League Baseball ballpark, each one is memorable for one reason or another. After each project is completed, I am eager for the next challenge.
I have been blessed with a wife of more than 25 years and three wonderful children. I have used the technological expertise I have learned at THP in multiple volunteer positions with school extracurricular activities, coaching youth baseball, and leading in many positions with the Boy Scouts of America. I have been involved with our neighborhood Homeowner’s Association (HOA) since 2004 and continue to serve my neighbors as HOA President. I enjoy being outdoors, whether I am on a job site, playing golf with friends, taking a walk through the neighborhood, or working in the yard.
